Data Recovery Pricing and Service Options
The price of data recovery depends on the real fault, storage media, useful volume, possible parts, laboratory time and handover conditions.
Initial review
How a price is established
A price remains indicative until the technical review confirms the real fault, risk level and recoverable scope.
A serious price cannot be set from storage capacity or device name alone. The cost depends on the media type, the fault, useful volume, urgency, parts required and level of risk.
The laboratory examination turns a vague estimate into a precise quote. It can also present recoverable data, often as a list or folder structure, before the client decides.
- Device type: hard drive, SSD, USB flash drive, memory card, RAID, or NAS
- Failure type: logical, electronic, mechanical, or combined
- Scope: urgency, useful volume, priority files and handover
Free Initial Review
The examination evaluates feasibility and provides a no-obligation quote before recovery.
Useful report
Where possible, the client receives information about recoverable files so the decision is based on concrete evidence.
Fault-specific work
How failure type changes the quoted work
The technical review connects the storage condition and required method to the work included in the individual quote.
The actual condition of the media determines the recovery path and the work that can be quoted responsibly. Recent deletion, a failed PCB, internal hard-drive damage, and a degraded multi-drive system require different tools, parts, controls, and amounts of time.
The quote should identify the justified acquisition method, reconstruction effort, and validation of the requested files instead of assigning one copied amount to a broad failure label.
- Logical failure: controlled imaging, file-system reconstruction, and file validation
- Electronic or firmware failure: component-level access, compatible parts, and safe acquisition
- Mechanical hard-drive failure: cleanroom work only when internal intervention is justified
Logical failure
Deletion, formatting, a lost partition, or file corruption on a storage device that remains readable.
Electronic failure
A failed PCB, power surge, connector problem, or firmware fault that requires technical intervention.
Mechanical failure
Read-head or motor failure, impact damage, or cleanroom opening with compatible parts and controlled imaging.
RAID, NAS, server, and NVR
Reconstruction of a multi-drive volume after analyzing member condition, drive order, parity, metadata, and the requested files.
Before approval
What You Receive Before Deciding
The price should be clear before approval: technical review, transport, quote, expected result and confidentiality.
Before making a decision, the client should know the review findings, quote, included private round-trip shipping, confidentiality approach and expected result. Chargeable recovery should begin only after the checked file list, price and scope are accepted.
The client should not pay for recovery before understanding what is recoverable, what is not, the proposed price and the handover conditions.
- Complete free review before quote
- Private round-trip shipping included for every case
- Recovery begins only after the client approves the quote
No obligation to proceed
The quote does not oblige the client to continue. It exists so the client can decide after reviewing the findings.
Controlled access
Recovered data is handled within the agreed scope, with restricted access and professional confidentiality.
Cleanroom work
Why Cleanroom Work Changes the Price
When a hard drive must be opened, the controlled environment and specialized handling account for part of the price.
A mechanical failure costs more than a logical failure when the drive must be opened in a controlled environment. A cleanroom limits contamination while platters, read heads, or other internal components are exposed.
That price can include inspection time, compatible-part sourcing, controlled-environment handling, limited trials, and progressive imaging of the device.
- Controlled hard drive opening when the mechanical failure requires it
- Compatible donor components and careful handling
- Zone-by-zone imaging designed to limit further loss
Mechanical cases
Pricing increases when recovery requires donor parts, clean handling, and closely managed imaging.
Logical cases
The work centers on file structures, tables, metadata, and verification rather than opening the drive.
Quote comparison
Compare Recovery Quotes on Equal Terms
Ask not only how much recovery costs, but what risk, expected outcome, and limitations the quote covers.
Two prices are not comparable unless the failure, device, priority files, and success criteria are comparable too. A very low quote may exclude hardware evaluation, cleanroom work, parts, or final verification.
A higher price is not automatically justified either. It should correspond to a real challenge, such as mechanical failure, an unstable device, complex RAID, urgency, a large volume, or tightly controlled delivery.
- Reject single prices without a technical review
- Ask what is included in the quote
- Confirm delivery terms and priority files
Incomplete preliminary figure
It may cover only one stage of a straightforward case and can mislead when physical failure, acquisition, reconstruction, or validation is excluded.
Evidence-based price
It should be linked to a method, diagnosis and verifiable result, not to a vague promise.
Estimate request
Request a useful quote
A factual request helps produce a more reliable price and avoids handling that worsens the fault.
To obtain a usable quote, provide accurate information: media, symptom, context, attempts already made, urgency and priority files. These details avoid an estimate that is artificially low or too broad.
The quote should then state the scope, price, indicative timescale, handover arrangements and known limits. If the storage device is unstable, it is better to stop attempts before requesting analysis.
- Device type, capacity, system, and use
- Symptoms observed and date of the incident
- Files or folders that are truly the priority
Before the quote
Do not format or repair the device, clone it with unsuitable tools, or write new files to the source storage.
After the quote
Proceed only after the price, limitations, priority data, and delivery terms are clear.
Terms
What remains free and when payment becomes due
A price becomes a decision only after usable files have been checked and the limitations have been made clear.
The estimate, free laboratory diagnosis and private round-trip shipping are included at no charge. Before payment, the U.S. customer receives a checked file list, the price and the four statuses recoverable_verified, partial, detected_unverified and unrecoverable; only recoverable_verified is treated as recoverable.
Payment is made only after the U.S. customer accepts that list and the price. Final recovery, preparation of the result and return take place after payment.
If no usable data are found, final recovery fails or the U.S. customer declines the list or price, there is no standard charge for the intervention, outbound shipping, return shipping, customs or standard return media. Only a rare, costly part may be ordered after separate, explicit, priced approval; that part is non-refundable even when recovery is unsuccessful.
- Free diagnosis and free estimate
- Decision based on checked files and price
- No standard charge without a usable accepted result
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What determines the cost of data recovery?
The quote reflects the diagnosed failure, source stability, safe imaging method, required parts, cleanroom work when justified, reconstruction effort, and validation of the priority data.
Is the initial device review free?
Yes. The diagnosis, estimate and private round-trip transport are free. Payment is made only after the checked file list and price are accepted.
Why is mechanical recovery more expensive?
Mechanical recovery may require cleanroom opening, compatible parts, controlled handling, and progressive imaging. The higher price reflects the additional time and technical risk.
Am I required to proceed after receiving a quote?
There is no standard charge without usable data or when the U.S. customer declines. Only a rare, costly part approved separately at a stated price remains non-refundable.
Can the final price be confirmed before the review?
No. The storage condition, required method, parts, reconstruction, priority data, and handover scope must be reviewed before a case-specific quote can be confirmed.
